We’ve seen font-inspired eyeglasses, but this is a zipper-inspired font!
Model and actress Ayami Nakajo has created a new “type” with Yuni Yoshida and Japanese zippers brand YKK that is not only inventive, it’s also quasi-NSFW.
Somewhat bizarrely, the inspiration for the project comes from the Bible, namely Revelations 5:4:
And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look in it.
This is adapted into the more provocative: “And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the body, or to look in it.”
Of course, this is all rather risqué for the sake of being risqué. If you want to get attention for your brand, put a young model in skin-tight leather and get her to pose in a variety of angles.
YKK (Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha) zippers are the zippers of choice for many designers and claim to make up to half the zippers on the planet. It’s likely the most famous company in the world that you’ve never heard of. Well, if Nakajo’s slinky charms are anything to go by, this might change soon.
While this is certainly eye-catching, it’s not the most unusual font we’ve seen in Japan in recent times. Also check out these original ideas, including cats, horror writing, railway signs, and insects.
